Benefits of SIP
When thinking about conducting a research and development project, or finding help or information, many organisations do not consider that the expertise and resources of their local universities are easily accessible.  Others may have tried, but been unable to find the right person to get their project started.

The Strategic Insight Programme is ideally suited to support university staff to develop these types of long term strategic links outside Higher Education.  All SIP placements should be mutually beneficial to both partners and have the potential to develop future collaborative activities such as research projects, training, consultancy, or other knowledge transfer (KT) projects.

Benefits of an initial short term 'taster' placement include:

  • Matching the right university staff with external partners
  • Stimulating innovation to develop ideas together
  • Providing a fresh perspective
  • Building the foundations of long term strategic partnerships
  • Examining how collaborative partnering with universities can really be beneficial
  • Gaining access to funding only available by working with a university partner

This ‘real world’ experience will also feed back into the learning experience for students, to ensure that they leave university equipped with relevant and transferable skills.
