University Staff
Who can apply?
  • Anyone employed on a full or part-time contract at any of the four participating institutions
  • All academic and support staff are eligible
What to consider
  • Think about who you would like to work with
  • Do you have any existing contacts at that organisation, or do you need to find out who to speak to?
  • What are you hoping to achieve from your placement (both personally and professionally)?
  • What expertise and interests do you have to offer?
  • Do you need help to formulate your idea and/or prepare your application form.
  • Please email on admin@siprogramme.org.uk to obtain the relevant application form and guidance notes, and to discuss your ideas.
How to apply
  • Read the application form and guidance notes
  • Discuss the placement with your Head of Department, including the anticipated timings and whether cover will be required for your absence, to get agreement
  • Complete the application form including details of the anticipated benefits and outcomes
  • Ensure that what you are intending to do does not constitute State Aid (e.g. offering a service such as free consultancy, free training or research)
  • Include a breakdown of any justifiable travel and subsistence costs or training costs
  • Sign and date the form
  • Get your Head of Department and/or Dean to sign the form
  • Send the form to your Industrial Liaison Officer SIP Manager
  • Your FEC rate/capped hourly rate will be completed and the application signed off
  • The application will then be considered and approval or rejection notified within one week
  • Send the completed application form to admin@siprogramme.org.uk
